Frank Lynch’s civil litigation practice primarily focuses on the defense of general liability, product liability and premises liability matters. He has tried numerous cases in state and federal trial courts. He has also represented parties in commercial, environmental, construction and insurance coverage disputes.

Frank has tried some notable cases including the first asbestos personal injury case in Massachusetts and one of the first cases under the state’s Superfund law, Chapter 21E. In other jury trials, he successfully represented clients in actions involved the death of an iron worker from collapse of a crane, the death of a scuba diver struck by a whale watch boat and the death of a police officer killed in a high profile drug raid. The latter case resulted in a significant decision by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court limiting the liability of landlords in cases of criminal activity on the landlord’s premises. This decision led to Frank’s selection as one of the Top Ten Lawyers of the Year by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. Frank achieved a number of other favorable rulings for clients in the appellate courts. Most recently, the First Circuit upheld a ruling Frank had obtained excluding the testimony of a medical causation expert in a benzene toxicity case by demonstrating that the expert’s methodology was scientifically unreliable.

Frank is very involved in town government in Scituate, Massachusetts. In addition to regular involvement in Town Meetings, he has volunteered to serve on Town boards. He was appointed to the Board of Health by the Board of Selectmen and served for 13 years. He was then asked to serve on the Zoning Board of Appeals and is now in his fifth year on that Board. Frank is an avid golfer and skier.
